I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO

Inspired by James Baldwin’s posthumous documentary directed by Raoul Peck, this chapter names the refusal to perform Blackness for white comfort. It reflects on the psychic toll of always being watched, judged, or interpreted in white spaces—and what it means to reclaim the right to opacity and interior life through an archive of films and TV Shows that counter sardoodledom with authentic and felt protagonists and narratives that honor rather than caricature melanated bodies, stories and songs.
